ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TIMES
Te Aka Treehouse is a private keyless access accommodation. It is recommended that guests arrive before dark. Check-in time is from 2 pm. Check-out time is 11 am. If your travel plans change, reach out to us as soon as you can.

PETS & CHILDREN
Given the unique location of Te Aka Treehouse, surrounded by native New Zealand rain forest, it is very much an adults-only accommodation. However, children over the age of 12 are welcome, provided they are accompanied by an adult and watched carefully. Te Aka Treehouse sits on an old historic mining area, and some unknown hazards may exist, which means pets are strictly prohibited for their safety.

INSECTS
Embrace native creatures, including insects. Especially during certain seasons when moths and Hu Hu beetles are active. Instead of using excessive sprays, opt for closing windows and doors an hour before dusk to minimise attraction to lights. Follow the rule: when you hear the first mosquito, you should have closed up 10 minutes earlier. Enjoy the decks after dusk, but keep doors closed and use insect repellent.

NO SMOKING POLICY
There is no smoking and vaping allowed inside buildings.

LIABILITY
Te Aka Treehouse accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to guest property during the rental period. You acknowledge that the Te Aka Treehouse property is unsupervised, and there are inherent risks in the surrounding environment, particularly historic mine workings. You will use all walking tracks at your own risk, knowing that there may be safety risks, and that tracks may not be suitable for ill-prepared, unfit, or inexperienced walkers. You agree to take due care at all times for your safety while using the facilities at Te Aka Treehouse. You acknowledge that you will be staying at Te Aka Treehouse at your own risk. To the extent permitted by NZ law, Te Aka Treehouse disclaims all liability for any loss or damage suffered (including physical injury and liability for negligence) while staying here. To the extent permitted by NZ law, you will indemnify Te Aka Treehouse for any loss or damage suffered by Te Aka Treehouse in relation to your stay except to the extent caused by the wilful default of Te Aka Treehouse.

HOST CANCELLATIONS
Te Aka Treehouse hosts reserve the right to cancel a booking in the event of exceptional or unforeseen circumstances. This right will only be exercised in good faith and in exceptional circumstances such as:
(a) Any alteration to the host property that may pose a safety risk for the guest;(b) Unexpected damage or destruction of the site;(c) A death in the host family.(e) An extreme weather event forecast that may pose a possible risk to guests.
Te Aka Treehouse’s liability will be limited to the refund of the booking cost and under no circumstances shall extend to any other incidental or other costs incurred by the client. In the unlikely event that Te Aka Treehouse must exercise this option, it will use its best endeavours to offer either a full refund or to alter the booking to another date or site at no additional cost or penalty.
