Supporting Ranui House and the Bone Marrow Cancer Trust reflects a deeply personal connection for Lisa and Dave’s family — and a commitment to offering respite where possible.

Community has always been important to Lisa and Dave.
This year, Te Aka chose to support the Bone Marrow Cancer Trust, specifically Ranui House — a facility that provides accommodation for families needing to stay close to Christchurch Hospital while loved ones receive treatment.
The connection is personal.
Their daughter was born 11 weeks premature. During that time, access to accommodation and support near the hospital made an enormous difference. Having somewhere close to rest, gather strength and remain together as a family during uncertainty is something you never forget.
To give back, their daughter joined Ranui ambassador Josh Komen in the Run for Ranui Christchurch Marathon, helping raise awareness and support for the trust.
Experiences like that shape how you see hospitality.
Here at Te Aka, the intention has always been to offer respite when possible — a place where people can step away, breathe deeply and reset. Each year, a stay at Te Aka is gifted to someone in need, recognising that rest and space can be incredibly powerful during difficult times.
Supporting Ranui aligns with that belief.
Te Aka may sit quietly in native forest, but its roots are firmly connected to community — and to the understanding that care, when shared, matters.
