A new forest walkway now connects the treehouse to Golden Gully, guiding guests through native bush and historic gold mining remnants dating back to the late 1860s.

Golden Gully lies directly below the treehouse.
To improve access, a defined walking track has been constructed through the native bush, creating a safe and clear route down to the gully and natural pool area.
The track has been carefully positioned to follow the natural contours of the land while minimising disturbance to the forest. Along the way, guests pass through visible remains of gold mining activity from the late 1860s. Old earthworks and hand-shaped formations are still evident — reminders of the area’s early history during the West Coast gold rush.
These remnants are part of the story of Nelson Creek.
The walkway not only improves safety and accessibility, it also gives guests a closer look at both the native forest and the historic workings that helped shape this region.
It’s a practical addition, grounded in both conservation and heritage.
