The addition of a sauna and enhanced access to the natural pool in Golden Gully marks the next stage in deepening the Te Aka guest experience.

Golden Gully has always been a special spot on the property.
Tucked into native bush, with fresh water and natural shelter, it’s long been a place to pause, cool off and simply be. It made sense to build on that.
Over winter, Dave worked on developing a sauna to sit alongside the natural pool — another way for guests to immerse themselves in the environment rather than just observe it.
The intention is simple: create space to warm up, cool down and reconnect with your body in a very real way. Wood-fired heat. Cold water immersion. Forest air.
This isn’t about overcomplicating the stay.
It’s about slowing it down.
After a day exploring tunnels, walking tracks or sitting on the deck, the sauna becomes part of the rhythm — a chance to unwind properly and let the landscape do its work.
Golden Gully has always offered tranquillity.
Soon it will offer restoration too.
